In-Office Procedures Available

At Montgomery Gynecology, we offer a range of advanced in-office procedures to address various women's health concerns. These procedures are designed to provide precise diagnoses and effective treatments while ensuring your comfort and convenience. Below, we provide details on two of these essential procedures:

  • Hysteroscopy

A hysteroscopy is done when there are problems with in the uterus that need to be diagnosed or treated. When a hysteroscopy is done, a thin tube with a camera and  ight at the end ( Hysteroscope) is used. This is inserted through your vagina and into your uterus, which then sends an image of the uterus to a screen for diagnoses.

A hysteroscopy is done when the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding needs to be found. This can mean a heavier than normal menstrual flow.

One of the most common uses for hysteroscopy is to find the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding. Abnormal bleeding can mean that a woman’s menstrual periods are heavier or longer than usual or occur less or more frequently than normal, bleeding between menstrual periods or postmenopausal bleeding. A sample of uterine lining can be taken to assess for uterine pre-cancer ot cancer as well. In some cases, abnormal bleeding may be caused by benign (not cancer) growths in the uterus, such as fibroids or polyps.

  • Colposcopy

Colposcopy is a way of looking at the cervix , vagina , and vulva through a special magnifying device called a colposcope . A colposcope can greatly enlarge the normal view. This exam allows an obstetrician–gynecologist (ob-gyn) to find problems that cannot be seen by the eye alone.

Colposcopy is done most commonly when results of cervical cancer screening tests show abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix. Colposcopy provides more information about the abnormal cells. Colposcopy may also be done if you have certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.
